The theme this year was 'duck'! Thanks to Tony, of course. I made this one in flash and after effects. It was fun. There are a bunch of really awesome films though everybody should search the internet for them.

So my friend Nikki was kind enough to lend me her oil paint for the painting class this semester. I was afraid they would be too official or scary or something but I ended up enjoying them. I really like that you can adjust a color once you place it on the page, and it allows for some subtle gradients and such that are more difficult for me with watercolors. Plus everything can be really soft.
This was one half of a two week pose. I didn't manage to get to that third guy, but the others are okay.

I animated this with TVP and some traditional paper. I colored the animation in TVP and the backgrounds in photoshop. Composited in in after effects. I'll see if I have any visdev for it that I can post as well, but a lot of it is in my portfolio already.

We were supposed to design a character based on a piece of music this week. I've been listening to Outkast's Aquemeni album a lot recently, so I went with the song "Return of the G. I will fix this drawing later but I'd like to do some more of it since I only had time to do one today. Its hard to design when you draw for your film for so long...
I tried to fix the first pose and then make an attempt at a second one. The weight on the chain still wasn't great, and the second drawing had less appealing shapes.

I've been trying out oils this semester, but here is the last water color figure I did several weeks ago in painting class. I like parts of it, but I am still trying to figure out planes and color shifts in relation to each other. Painting is hard.
